at the buzzer

Woke up early I

hit the alarm clock twice I

rolled to the other side I

forgot to check the time.

Complaining about the noise she

thumped on my shoulder she

mumbled a little expletive she

fell asleep, her face touching mine.

Heard a small bird chirping when

we both knew we were late for work

that panicked feeling washed over

and traditional fighting and yelling occurred.

“it doesn’t have to be like this” she said

“why can we just enjoy the day,

grab all our anxiety and worries

and just put them all away”.

Her eyes, a mystic glow

uttering something I never thought true

to stop for just one second

and acknowledge just me and you.

so the phone stayed on the desk we

scurried serenely back to bed we

talked for 2 more hours we

knew the chirping songs in our head

These days can’t all be like this our

time might be running too thin our

lives are just too fucking busy our

schedules blown up with a pin.

Maybe in a past life

but today, and just today

well that’s enough for me just

hoping this feeling never goes away.
